“Music is the art of sound and I appreciate it,” Deva said. “Music from the womb to the grave is a binding factor,” he added. “You can’t find meaning in words that are used only to enhance the quality of the music. For example, ‘Ullallalaayee…’ in the opening song has no meaning, but the sound has an emotional connection with the baby. I also try to create an emotional connection with the audience, ” he said.

Most of his songs are chartbusters and he attributes his success to his vocal knowledge in classical ragas. “My general formula is to compose raga songs, but they will be semi-classical. I tweaked it a bit to get the desired feel. From Moganam to Hamsa Nadhini to Baageswari, from Ranjani to Sindhu Bhairavi, I have used many ragas in my compositions with some improvisation,” says Deva.
The main reason for the classical touch in his songs is the sound knowledge he has acquired while composing devotional songs over the years. Before entering films, he was an experienced campaigner who created more than 250 devotional albums such as Seerkazhi Govindarajan (Kariyangal Niraivetrum Ganapathiye), P. Susheela (Meenakshi Paamalai), Balamuralikrishna, Madurai Somu, Soolamangalam Sisters, Soolamangalam Sisters, Banglamathi Varkrishnalak and S. . “Now I am making a devotional album and recently I made a sai bhajan album,” he said. Deva’s specialty is Gaana music. He is best known for his musical achievements in this genre. “Every music composer has his own style and is connected with a genre of music. I am from Chennai and gaana is inseparable from Chennaiites. I used to say ‘Gaana song’ and later I learned that ‘gaana’ means song in Hindi. It has a different flavor and a very unique sound. It seems rude, but without a doubt, the musicality of this genre is very deep,” he said.
