Music Artist Home – When you think of Grammy-nominated artists, you picture large high-end music studios with $100,000+ SSL 32-channel mixing consoles, $10,000 Sony C-800G microphones, and various preamps.
It was refreshing to see the home studio apartment of RAC (Andre Alan Anjos) – a record producer living in Portland with Odesza ft. Gera. Yes, the studio is stacked with modular synth goodness, but this studio isn’t out of this world of inaccessible studios (the Grammys would help!). You can think of RAC’s studio as a reflection of his music – thoughtful, cohesive and decidedly creative.

Dave Pensado is a Grammy Award-winning mixing engineer (1 win, 4 nominations) living in Los Angeles, CA. …With art spaces still closed, our local artists are still quietly working on their craft in their own homes. While some of us discovered new hobbies during Circuit Breaker, many of our artists used their time to rehearse and hone their craft. The performance may have been postponed indefinitely, but we understand that once a performer, always a performer, as the three artists are Chinese opera performer Ms Maria Yao, Indian classical dancer Ms Ahtherai Rashasegaran and Mr Ruan. The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) has stepped onto their new stage – their home.
Maria Yao, 59, was originally scheduled to perform at the Tang Dynasty Renaissance Shanghai Yue Opera Appreciation Night at the end of June, but the performance has now been moved to November. She has been performing opera for more than 20 years and has performed in the Tang Dynasty Renaissance for the past five years. Due to the current gathering restrictions, Ms. Yao has to practice opera moves and singing alone at home instead of rehearsing with the troupe. caroline ka

Ms Ahtherai Rashasegaran, 27, has been studying dance at the Art Institute in Bhaskar since she was 6 years old. Now that classes have been cancelled, she attends weekly online classes where they practice hand and leg movements, but what Ms Aserlay misses most is not being able to meet her dance partner in person. “I regret not having the same human interaction. Online classes can never replace the real thing. Dancing is more than art. It’s both a social and a therapeutic routine for me; something I look forward to every week,” says Mrs Ahtherai said. caroline ka
Ms. Ahtherai Rashasegaran has been a company dancer at Bhaskar Academy of Arts for almost eight years. While she appreciates online classes, working with musicians and actual choreography these days requires more time. Her July show has been postponed, but she hopes early October will still go ahead as planned. caroline ka
